ERTALYTE® is the trade name for an un-reinforced (virgin) partly crystalline thermoplastic polyester [Polyethylene terephtalate] (PET) {PET-P}. It has high hardness, stiffness, creep and wear resistance, excellent sliding properties in addition to good electrical properties and chemical resistance. Its very low water absorption which hardly influences the mechanical and electrical properties, results, together with a favourable thermal expansion rate, into a very good dimensional stability.

ERTALYTE® has a good resistance to most organic solvents, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and fats, salt solutions and diluted acids. Concentrated acids and basic solutions do attack ERTALYTE®.

All these properties make ERTALYTE® a premium engineering plastic with numerous application possibilities in many branches of industry e.g. in precision engineering, machine construction and electrical engineering.

ERTALYTE® is especially suitable for the manufacture of mechanical precision parts which have to sustain high loads and / or subject to wear. Please note if even better wear / coefficient of friction is required ERTALYTE® TX is available.

Warning: Permanent use in water above 70oC is not recommended on account of the danger of hydrolysis and consequent embrittlement.
